our story

A luxury patisserie in the heart of the historic market town of Ashby de la Zouch: mmacaron is bringing a new experience to its visitors as well as championing local businesses and suppliers.

Bringing an important Ashby building back to life

Back in the 1800s, our building was one of Ashby’s first pubs: The Turks Head. It remained as a Public House until the 1900s.

Over the years it has been home to many more businesses, including ‘Wilsons’ men’s clothes shop, a café, and most recently Clintons/Thorntons until Spring 2020.

It then remained as a shell for a year until renovations started in February 2021 to transform it into the building it is today today!

mmacaron became the custodians of the building on 25th February 2021, remodelling it to house the open pastry kitchen as well as stylish and modern seating areas.

Mark was heavily involved in each decision throughout the process. He is passionate about supporting local businesses, and this dream was brought into reality with the help of the following businesses: interior design from Gloss Interiors, Architect David Grainger, Hughcroft Developers and Middleton Davies PR.

On 21st May they proudly opened their doors to their first customers.

mmacaron ashby is the first luxury patisserie café for the business and Mark and his team are already considering future opportunities to expand their brand.
